The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they are.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. Also the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
